Installation closed aquathermal system
Water, naturally a heat source

.

The provincial domain of Nieuwenhoven demonstrates that aquathermal energy is a perfect fit for new buildings. The Province of Limburg built a new visitor centre located right next to a pond. EXTRAQT, in collaboration with its partner Eco-Technix, installed an aquathermal heating system in the visitor center. The system consists of two heat pumps that use the pond water as a natural heat source, providing the visitor centre with both heating and domestic hot water.

Aquathermal energy in a provincial domain

Nieuwenhoven has a long history as an abbey estate. The Province of Limburg purchased the domain and transformed it into a site where ecology, sustainability, and broad accessibility play a central role. A new visitor center for this domain required a sustainable heating solution with educational, ecological, and innovative qualities. In this context, aquathermal energy proved to be an excellent candidate, as the building was constructed near a pond. After a thorough evaluation together with EXTRAQT and other partners, the Province of Limburg chose aquathermal energy as a heating technology that elegantly combines nature and innovation.
